Point Ephemere: 19me. One of our favorite bar/resto/concert venues in Paris. Located in an old warehouse on the edge of the Canal St. Martin, Quai de Valmy, just south of MetroJaures, this is a big and important space for indieParis. It has art expos, a cheap resto/bar (pints ofGrolsch for 5euros/2.5 for a demi), and a monthly musical offerings from dj-ed electro toindie rock. 200 Quai de Valmy, 75010 Paris. Andy Wahloo: An "Arab-kitsch cocktail lounge that draws a formidably fashionable set crowd for a coveted place on an upturned paint can" (Urbanzietgeist). 69 rue des Gravilliers, 75003 Paris. Metro: Arts et Metiers.
Cantada II: 13 rue Moret, 75011 Paris. Metro: Menilmontant. Metal and Punk. Lots of great kitsch decor.
Cafe Cheri(e): 44, Boulevard de la Villette, 75019 Paris. Metro: Belleville. Cool terasse in warm weather. Hot joint, but very electronic.
Espace Jemmapes: Cultural center located along the Canal St. Martin. Throughout the year, thecenter provides courses in the plastic arts, performing arts, sports, dance and music and areopen to everyone. 116 rue de Jemmapes, 75010 Paris. Metro: Jacques Bonsergent
Le Fanfaron: Tiny rock bar with great character. Not for tourists. 6 Rue de la Main d'Or, 75011. Metro Ledru-Rollin.
Petit Garage: 63, Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud 75011 Metro : Menilmontant, Couronnes, or Parmentier. More student and bobo these days, but the owner still plays some good rock, punk, and new wave.
Bar Ourcq: 68 Quai de la Loire, 75019 Paris. Metro: Laumiere, electronic-heavy.
Le Motel: hip little bar just off of Rue Keller. It draws and indie rock and electro crowd, but very on the teen and twenty side.: 8, Passage Rosset, 75011 Metro: Ledru-Rollin or Bastille
Planete Mars: Great little rock bar on the tres rocker Rue Keller. Good rocker and indie rock sets Thursday-Saturday. Clientele usually ranges between 25 and 45.For fans of the Ramones, James Brown,and Iggy Pop, but some nights have hip hop and electronic music : 8, Passage Rosset, 75011 Metro: Ledru-Rollin or Bastille
Le PopIn: Immortalized in a song by Kimya Dawson, the PI is a hipster favorite. One of the few places that serves pitchers of beer, it also has some live (sometimes pretty good, sometimes horrible) music. Lots of Americans and lots of college students, many of whom are not yet 21.: 105 Rue Amelot, 75011 Metro: Saint Sébastien Froissart

UFO Bar: rock and funk: 49 Rue JP Timbaud, 75011 Metro: Parmentier
La Feline: THE premiere rock bar in Paris. If there's an edge in Paris, it's here. Divey, so if you don't like it dirty, don't come here. 6 Rue Victor Letalle. Check the every other thursday dj parties by Le Grand Duc du Kansas. M: Menilmontant
St. Saveur: Classic Skinhead Punk (that is, ska-reggae, then early classic punk) and Rocker Bar. Just a couple doors down from Feline on Victor Letalle/Rue des Panoyaux
Le Baron Samedi: 11 Rue des Goncourts, Metro Goncourt. Great Bar, great staff, specializing in retro African-American music: soul, blues, funk, a bit of hip hop. Mainly SOUL.
