Not Just for Parisians, and not just for any Parisian...

Dear DIY-ers, indiemaniacs, mavericks, different drummers, different marchers...(non-Parisians skip down a paragraph)
My idea is that there are plenty of you out there in Paris. There are also a lot of things going on. But like a lot of things in Paris, you slowly find out about them, often after they've passed. Let's face it: the French on-line and print attempts at organizing information about music, esp. indie, mostly suck. The ones that are valiant in their attempts are still hamstrung linguistically and culturally. They don't and can't know the American and British scenes with much depth and lots of mediation. And then a lot of you don't read or speak French fluently. We're here to try to fix that problem. Sometimes, shows are not announced in a publication like "Pariscope," or you spend your time going from one venue's website to another foraging for interesting shows, copying them down and assembling your own crude list that probably gets lost anyway. Here you'll find one list, one calendar of all the indie-ish music (and perhaps occasionally formerly indie-gone big label) events in Paris for the month and coming soon. I may occasionally mention shows in Brussells and Amsterdam when the bands are not coming through Paris.

Those who are not Parisian may still find concert and album reviews and general banter useful and entertaining.

In addition, I will sometimes announce related events of interest to such a community, though music is the focus: art openings/expos, squats, lectures, festivals, etc.

I will try to get the calendar out by the first of every month, and maintain an updated section of "coming soon" events at the bottom of each month's calendar. If you run a venue and/or have something you think should be announced on the list, please email me, and I'll try to add it as soon as possible. Please subscribe to the "blog" through the feedburner service noted in the header. This will alert you to new posts.Needless to say, this is a free service organized for like-minded people. Hope you enjoy it.
